DCF Prevention Evaluation

The University of Miami's Treatment and Prevention Evaluation Group (TPEG) has organized an "Evaluation Team" that provides technical assistance to all drug prevention providers in Florida funded by Florida's Department of Children and Families (DCF). Technical assistance from the Evaluation Team relates to both fidelity of program implementation and outcome data collection/reporting for all evidence-based programs. The Evaluation Team also assists providers who are implementing locally developed prevention programs in the arduous process of developing an evidence-base for their programs.

TPEG, in partnership with the Center for Prevention Research at Florida State University, provides the following services:

1) Technical Assistance:

  • Field Evaluators from UM or FSU provide on-site and off-site technical assistance.
  • Field Evaluators assist prevention programs to ensure fidelity of implementation of evidence-based programs.
  • Field Evaluators support agencies in their effort to validate locally developed prevention programs.

2) Data Collection and Reporting:

  • UM data analysis staff provides periodic quantitative reports of program outcomes.
  • As well as assistance with specialized reports upon request.
  • Through a contract with KIT Solutions, Inc. UM is developing process and outcome reports that will be available online.
