Services
The Comprehensive Drug Research Center’s Outreach Assessment Center offers a variety of services:
OAC rooms
We currently have 4 interview rooms, 1 intervention room and 1 meeting room. The rooms will be leased out on an hourly basis. The current rate for the rooms that are available for use is $22.06 per hour. A cost of $27.75 per hour will be added to the hourly price of any room that is needed after 5:00pm Monday-Friday and on the weekends for UM Security. Please visit our Outreach Assessment Center Calendar for reservations.
Vehicle Cost Center
We have a vehicle cost center that operates two different vans and one camper. For a discounted cost, CDRC members may use the vans in order to pick up and drop off study participants. Transportation can be provided to and from the Miller School of Medicine as well as other Downtown Miami locations. Included in the cost are insurance, gas and routine maintenance including car washes. The vehicle cost rate is determined by utilization and the fluctuation in as gas prices. The current rate for using a van is $1.82 per mile. The current rate for using the camper is $11.01 per hour.
Phlebotomy Cost Center
The CDRC’s OAC also has a phlebotomy cost center that provides phlebotomy services. Our certified, trained and experienced phlebotomist will draw blood from study participants. Charges can be by blood draw or, if needed, a share of the phlebotomist's percent of effort can be negotiated. The current rate for phlebotomy services is $50.00 per blood draw.
Client Linking Improvements Through Database Efficiency
The CDRC has also received a grant from the Health Foundation of South Florida to create a new Client Tracking Data Base System. This program will be able to keep track of study participants and their visits as well as where they were sent for care, the result of that care, or any data the PI would like included for a particular study. It can be password protected for each study and P.I. We can generate any report necessary for the Project Managers and Principle Investigators as requested. The current system already has over 10,000 records from studies spanning over 15 years.
The OAC has a full-time receptionist and a full-time University of Miami Security Officer. The normal operating hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm. However, special arrangements can be made to accommodate any schedule. Additional information may be obtained by reaching Mr. Samuel Comerford at 305-243-7266 or oac@med.miami.edu.
